Delivering Practical Support to Communities in Vietnam
In March 2026, VADO carried out the Hands for Community 2026 outreach program in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with the support of The Best Rate Insurance, community partners, donors, and volunteers.
Built around the mission of delivering practical support to communities in need, the program focused on direct community outreach, essential living support, and medical assistance for vulnerable individuals and families.
A Community Initiative Focused on Real Needs
Hands for Community was created with a simple belief: meaningful support should be practical, responsible, and directly connected to the everyday needs of the people being served.
This year’s program focused on three main areas:
- Cataract surgery support for seniors
- Essential care packages for community shelters and care homes
- Direct financial assistance for individuals and families facing difficult circumstances
Rather than symbolic donations, the initiative prioritized support that could create immediate and measurable impact in daily life.
Supporting Cataract Surgeries for Seniors
One of the program’s key initiatives was sponsoring cataract surgeries for elderly patients at:
Southwest Eye Hospital
20–22 Street 156 An Duong Vuong, Phu Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Through partnerships with local medical professionals, Hands for Community supported 100 cataract surgeries for seniors experiencing vision loss.
For many elderly individuals, untreated cataracts significantly affect mobility, independence, and overall quality of life. Restoring vision through surgery improves daily functioning and helps patients regain confidence in everyday activities.
This effort represented direct medical support with long-term impact.
Community Outreach Across Ho Chi Minh City
Beyond medical support, the program also visited several community care locations to deliver practical assistance and essential supplies.
Binh An Compassion Shelter
4395/1 Nguyen Cuu Phu Street, Tan Tao A Ward, Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
At Binh An Compassion Shelter, the team supported elderly residents, children, and shelter staff by delivering food, household necessities, and essential care items.
Vi Hoang Nursing Home
1366/18/16 National Highway 1A, Quarter 1, Thoi An Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
The outreach at Vi Hoang Nursing Home focused on elderly individuals without family support, providing personal care items, essential supplies, and financial assistance for care services.
Zero-Cost Housing
23/4 Binh Trung Street, Binh Trung Dong Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
At the Zero-Cost Housing community, support was directed toward low-income families caring for loved ones undergoing dialysis, cancer treatment, and other serious medical conditions.
Essential supplies and direct financial support were provided to help ease daily living pressures during difficult circumstances.
Program Impact
Through the collective efforts of sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community partners, Hands for Community 2026 successfully delivered:
- 100 cataract surgeries
- 160 essential care packages
- 50,000,000 VND in direct financial support
These contributions translated into practical support for seniors, children, and families across multiple community locations in Ho Chi Minh City.
A Shared Effort
VADO sincerely thanks The Best Rate Insurance for serving as the main sponsor of Hands for Community 2026, along with every donor, partner, volunteer, and community member who contributed to this initiative.
This program reflects what can happen when organizations and individuals come together with a shared commitment to responsible community support.
Hands for Community is more than a single outreach trip — it is part of an ongoing effort to continue supporting communities through practical action and meaningful service.
