The Houston Vietnamese American Development Organization (HVAD) continues its mission of community care and humanitarian outreach through its support for the “Nhà Trọ 0 Đồng” (Zero-Cost Shelter) project in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
From a vision of kindness to a haven of hope, the “Nhà Trọ 0 Đồng” initiative offers a meaningful way to uplift those facing life’s most difficult moments.
Located at 23/4 Binh Trung Street, the shelter provides free temporary accommodation for cancer patients and individuals facing financial hardship as they undergo medical treatment in nearby hospitals.

It offers a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, where patients and their families can rest without the burden of rent — a small comfort during challenging times.
During the visit, representatives from HVAD met with the shelter’s coordinators and volunteers to learn more about their mission and daily operations.
The organization contributed essential supplies, including bedding and food, to help improve living conditions for the residents.
Beyond material aid, the visit was filled with empathy, encouragement, and heartfelt conversations that reminded everyone of the enduring power of community care.
From compassion to connection, the “Nhà Trọ 0 Đồng” project stands as a symbol of kindness and solidarity — a place built on compassion, supported by collective goodwill, and maintained through the efforts of countless individuals who believe in helping others.
HVAD’s contribution to this initiative reflects its core belief that every act of care, no matter how small, can bring light to those in darkness.
At HVAD, we continue to strengthen our humanitarian network between the Vietnamese community in Houston and those in need across Vietnam.
Each partnership, each visit, and each act of giving becomes part of a greater mission — to connect hearts, uplift lives, and spread hope where it’s needed most.
